Performance tip: Although
the XB/'04 XL1200 head is a better piece, Thunderstorm type pistons use
a superior 15 degree angled squish band arrangement. For the optimum in
performance, let NRHS cut a 15 degree squish band into your XB/'04
XL1200 heads and use a Thunderstorm engine kit.

all-aluminum, Axtell aluminum cylinders with cast iron sleeves, or

the engine to be disassembled and the cases
to be bored
90ci Kits With Axtell Cast Iron
Cylinders
Cast iron construction offers
the ultimate in structural integrity and ring seal. This is especially
important in the 90ci application as the cylinder wall becomes thin. Our
testing has shown that aluminum is not strong enough to maintain good
ring seal in this application, but cast iron works very well. Cylinders
come only in black baked finish. Fin highlighting is not available.

chamber efficiency over the flat bathtub style used in the XB heads. For
the optimum in performance, let NRHS cut a 15 degree squish band into
your XB/'04 XL1200 heads and match this up to a Thunderstorm engine kit.
